Four suspects involved in a case of kidnap and sexual abuse of four underage girls were remanded by Kalutara Additional Magistrate N. Nanayakkara when they were produced before court with a B Report by the Payagala Police on Friday.
Police told court that six underage girls who were inmates of the Serupita Kalutara Children’s home were found missing on Thursday. It transpired that the four suspects had taken them to a rest house in the Kataragama area.
The suspects were known to the girls, two of whom were allegedly raped by their boyfriends.
Subsequently, the suspects had taken the girls back to Payagala. One suspect was an employee of the rest house.
Following a complaint made to the Payagala Police, a team of policemen conducted investigations and arrested the four suspects after recording the statements of the girls.
Two girls were produced before the AJMO Nagoda Hospital and the medical report confirmed that they had been raped.
The four suspects were produced before court and were remanded by the Kalutara Magistrate till August 29.
