Nabbed after hiding for 10 years

A convict in a murder case concluded at the Embilipitiya High Court was arrested by the Bandaragama Police on August 16, while he was hiding in a house in Kindellapitiya, Wellmilla.

Police investigations revealed that the accused Kithulmullagamage Samankumara was the brother of Wambotta, the leader of an underworld gang in the South.

He was sentenced to death by the Embilipitiya High Court in 2010 when he was found guilty of committing a murder.

The case was heard in absentia of the accused as he had been absconding for the last 10 years.

Bandaragama Police received information about the accused and he was arrested by the Police. He was produced before the Panadura Additional Magistrate and ordered to be produced before the Embilipitiya High Court.
