The total number of COVID-19 positive patients directed in the country has exceeded 40,000 mark yesterday, the Health Ministry’s Epidemiology Unit stated.
The total number of COVID positive cases currently stands at 40,380.
Around 32,701 of them have recovered while 7,492 patients remain in hospitals.
The National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) stated that the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory employees and Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster stands at 36, 670. Meanwhile, 28,643 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients from the fish market (33,611) clusters have been discharged from hospitals.
By yesterday morning (27), 712 recovered patients have left hospitals and care centres in the last 24 hours. In the past 24 hours, one death has been reported from Colombo 15. Accordingly, the death toll in the country rose to 187 by yesterday morning (27).
As of this morning (27), the flight UL 104 from the Maldives with a passenger, flight QR 668 from Qatar with 130 passengers, flight UL 607 from Australia with 68 passengers, the flight UL 455 from Japan with 74 passengers, flight UL 226 from the UAE with 53 passengers and the flight UL 554 from Jordan with 200 passengers have arrived. The flight EK 650 from Dubai with 45 passengers, flight UL 1208 from Italy with 7 passengers, flight TK 730 from Turkey with 15 passengers and flight SQ 468 with 8 passengers from Singapore are expected to arrive here within the day. They all were to be referred to Quarantine Centers (QCs), managed by tri-services upon their arrival after formalities at the airport.
As of yesterday morning (27), 5,791 persons in 73 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within Saturday (26), 13,516 PCR tests were conducted.
