The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, in association with the Consulate of Poland in Sri Lanka, Embassy of Poland in India, and the Polish Chamber of Commerce, will be organising a webinar on ‘Poland – Current Economy, Business Environment, and Opportunities for Join Collaborations’ on March 18 at 3:00 p.m.

The main objective of the webinar is to help local companies further strengthen their links with Poland, and to identify potential areas for joint collaborations.

The panel of resource persons include Adam Burakowski, Ambassador for Poland to Sri Lanka; Krishan Balendra, Consul General for Poland in Sri Lanka; Tomasz Janczak, Second Secretary of Agriculture Affairs (Political – Economic Section) for the Embassy of Poland in India; and Jerzy Drozdz, Director of the Foreign Relations Department at the Polish Chamber of Commerce.

Poland continues to be one of the safest countries in Europe. With a population of about 38 million and a GDP per capita of US$13,800 (2017), Poland has the largest economy in Central Europe. Poland is classified as a high-income economy by the World Bank and ranks 22nd worldwide in terms of GDP, as well as 40th in the 2020 Ease of Doing Business Index.

The balance of trade between Sri Lanka and Poland is in favour of Sri Lanka, and main items exported during 2020 include tea, spices, apparel, rubber products, fish, and coconut products. Based on the interests of local companies, Virtual B2B Meetings will be organised in due course, the Chamber Spokesman said.
