A discussion will be held with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the possibility of giving the COVID vaccine between 12 to 18 year olds in the Gampaha district, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.He added that some countries have already started vaccinating children above 12 years paving the way for a broader roll-out in their countries.
He said that he hopes to discuss with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in this regard concerning the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the Gampaha district.
It has been reported that around 500,000 people above 30 years have still not received the vaccine while around 300,000 people between 18 years and 30 years of age are still to receive the COVID vaccine.There are 300,000 youth between the 12 and 30 year age groups in the Gampaha district.
