The Department of Prisons will conduct an internal inquiry on the allegation that remanded MP Rishard Bathiudeen had threatened a prisons’ medical officer.
According to the Department sources, an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons has been assigned to conduct the inquiry.
It was reported that the MP had allegedly threatened a prison doctor with death at the prison’s medical centre on August 15. The doctor has lodged a complaint with the Borella Police in connection with this incident.
Accordingly, this internal inquiry will be conducted in addition to the investigations being carried out by the Colombo Crime Division based on the doctor’s complaint to the Police.
