Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa will today present to the Cabinet the report of the ministerial sub-committee on contentious teacher salary issue.
Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, a member of the committee, yesterday told The Island that the report of the committee would be presented to the Cabinet today on the recommendations of the Ministry of Finance.
The teacher salary anomalies issue had been discussed with all teachers’ and principals’ unions last week and during which they submitted a number of positive proposals, Amaraweera said. adding that all vital information had been obtained from the Ministry of Education and the issue had been discussed at length during the past several days.
The ministerial sub-committee discussed the matter on the basis that all the requests made by the teachers and principals were justifiable.
The President as well as the ministerial subcommittee had also agreed in principle to solve the salary issue.
