The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna yesterday urged the public to take all necessary steps to ensure their own safety including self-imposed restrictions to control the spread of COVID 19. The JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake while charging that the Government has failed to enforce more strict restrictions to control the epidemic said “We now urge citizens to take all necessary steps to ensure their own safety”.
“Several cities including Ambalantota have been closed voluntarily in recent days. The Public Health Inspector’s Association similarly called for the people to take measures themselves to ensure their own safety. Minister Dr.Sudarshani Fernandopulle also made this request. We too ask the public to take maximum precautions to protect themselves, their family members, neighbours, relatives and citizens of the country”.Dissanayake also urged public servants to take maximum precautions when going to work. “It is true that you have to work for a living. But your life is not a job” he added.
The JVP leader said as a political party the JVP was always ready to contribute to any relief measures for the public. “Let us as a people come to a collective decision to come out of this catastrophe. Let’s make sacrifices and make maximum effort to protect ourselves which will eventually contribute to protecting others” he added.
