Thirty monks at a Pirivena in Hanthana, Kandy have been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Since none of the monks are showing any adverse health effects, steps have been taken to isolate the infected within the Pirivena itself.
Meanwhile, the admission of monks to the COVID Bhikku Treatment Centre at the Devon Hotel in Kandy has been temporarily restricted due to the large number of monks admitted in the past few days.
The Bhikkhu COVID Treatment Centre at the Devon Hotel in Kandy can accommodate 25 monks at a time. Kandy District Secretary Chandana Tennakoon said that several beds were left vacant at the Treatment Centre in Kandy for the admission of a monk who was showing serious symptoms of the infection.
