Amid the temporary suspension of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi's Twitter account, the Congress has alleged that similar action has been taken against the accounts of five senior leaders, including Randeep Surjewala. Congress social media chief Rohan Gupta alleged that Twitter is working under pressure from the government.
"It has already blocked 5,000 accounts of our leaders and workers in India. They need to understand that we cannot be pressurized by Twitter or the government," he said.
Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi had last week tweeted photographs of the family of a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered in Delhi. The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) took cognizance of Rahul Gandhi's tweet and Twitter took action against the Congress leader's account for violating the privacy of the minor victim.
