New Delhi:

Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) scientist has been arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Saturday for his alleged involvement in orchestrating the low-intensity blast in Rohini district court in Delhi on December 9.

The accused, who has been identified as 47-year-old Bharat Bhushan Kataria, reportedly had a personal rivalry with a lawyer, who is also his neighbour.

Both the lawyer and the accused were embroiled in court battles and it was because of this reason, the man planted a bomb in a tiffin box inside the courtroom.

As per reports the lawyer had filed as many as 10 cases against the accused DRDO senior scientist.

Police is now investigating if there is anyone other person involved in the case. Cops, however, have ruled out the possibility of terror angle.

The explosion took place inside the courtroom no. 102 in which one person was injured.

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana said that the accused entered the court at 9.33 am on December 9 with two bags, one of which he left behind inside the courtroom. He left the court premises at 10.35 am.

“Both the parties had lodged several cases against each other. They are neighbours and live in the same building. Prima facie, it seems Kataria had a grudge against the lawyer,” a senior police officer said.
