In a shocking incident which seems straight out of a climax from a film, a young woman opened fire on her boyfriend in West Bengal’s Purba Bardhaman district over their strained relationship. The 22-year-old, who was in relationship with the guy for four years shot him after kissing him and smoking cigarettes with him, as per the police.
The 22-year-old man was, however, left unhurt as the bullet just grazed his abdomen. According to reports, an officer later said that the accused was subsequently arrested. The incident took place in Keshiya village in Katwa police station area on Wednesday night.
According to an officer, the complaint lodged by the man claims that his girlfriend asked him to meet at a local circus ground upon her return home from Jharkhand, where she had gone a few months back for a job. Subsequently they hugged and kissed, and smoked cigarettes when she suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire at him.
The girl was arrested and the firearm and cartridges were seized from her possession.
This is not the only incident of love gone horribly wrong in Bengal. Recently a similar situation came to pass when a minor girl from Burdwan allegedly shot and injured her estranged lover after he rejected her proposal of marriage. The girl was apprehended and produced in a juvenile court before being sent to a government shelter.
However, the girl’s family has alleged that the injured man was forcing her to go with him and that the entire shooting was staged.
