Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's two deputy, couple of cabinet ministers test COVID positive

Bihar ministers test COVID-19 positive:

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s deputy Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi have tested positive for the virus. Also, two state cabinet ministers – Ashok Choudhary and Sunil Kumar – have been infected with the virus.

There is no denying that the deadly COVID-19 virus is spreading like wildfire in Bihar. Two days ago at least 11 people at CM Nitish Kumar’s residence tested COVID-19 positive. Also, six people who were to attend the Bihar CM’s ‘Janata Darbar’ were infected with the virus.

Bihar Excise Minister Sunil Kumar, who tested positive, was with the Chief Minister during the ‘Janata Darbar’ event.

Meanwhile, Bihar government today has cancelled chief minister’s ‘Janata Darbar’ and all events of ‘Samaj Sudhar Abhiyan’ due to rising cases of COVID-19 in the state.

On Tuesday, Bihar saw 893 new cases of COVID-19. The state has imposed 14-day night curfew alongwith a slew of restrictions from Thursday (January 6) to contain the spread of the virus.

As per reports, Bihar has a single case of Omicron. The state reported the first case of the new COVID-19 strain last week when a 26-year-old resident of Patna’s Kidwaipuri tested positive for Omicron. The person had recently travelled to Delhi.

Earlier this week, CM Nitish Kumar expressed concern over the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state. He also said reports of his colleagues testing positive for the virus was “very sad”.

Nitish Kumar also urged people of the state to be alert. He said, “The third COVID wave has begun but we are fully prepared.”
