The Indian Army has exposed a lie being perpetrated by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China regarding the alleged hoisting of the Chinese flag in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh on New Year’s Day.
Chinese state media had earlier posted a video, which went viral, showing PLA soldiers allegedly waving their national flag to celebrate the beginning of the new year 2022 in the Galvan Valley of Ladakh.
Indian Army sources had earlier denied the claim, saying the place where the Chinese flag was hoisted was not in the disputed area between the two countries. The location was actually in a demilitarized zone, as agreed in a series of disintegration talks held by both sides since the June 2020 Galvan Valley conflict.
Today, the Indian Army came forward with evidence of India’s presence in the Galwan Valley. The Indian Army has released two photos, showing Indian Army soldiers holding the tricolor in the snow-covered Galvan Valley.
While Indian Army personnel can be seen holding the tricolor in the snow-covered Galvan Valley, Chinese troops were not in an area where there was snow on the ground when they hoisted their flag.
The Chinese propaganda video, however, claimed that PLA soldiers had hoisted the Chinese flag in the Galwan Valley on New Year’s Day.
The video had the following caption: “China’s national flag rises over Galvan Valley on New Year’s Day 2022.” The video further stated that the flag was “special because it was once flown at Tiananmen Square in Beijing”.
Indian Army sources had earlier said that PLA troops had celebrated the New Year in the Galwan Valley and hoisted their national flag, but this was done far away from the demilitarized zone.
The place was not near the bend of the river, where a clash had taken place between the Indian Army and PLA troops in June 2020, in which 20 Indian soldiers were martyred and several dozen Chinese soldiers were killed.
Sources said the PLA Army was inside Chinese territory when they hoisted the flag of China.
