Maharashtra revises COVID-19 restriction guidelines for gyms, salons: Check here

Mumbai:

Maharashtra on Sunday has revised COVID-19 restrictions allowing salons and gyms in the state to operate with 50 per cent capacity. These restrictions will come into effect from Monday (January 10)

On Saturday, the Maharashtra government announced that gyms and beauty salons will remain closed, while hair cutting salons will function at 50 per cent capacity. The restrictions were announced after the state reported more than 41,000 new COVID-19 cases.

The latest, or the revised order, on Sunday grouped beauty salons with the hair cutting salons.

The order stated that only those activities that do not require removal of masks by anyone shall be allowed. Also, people visiting these facilities to avail services should be fully vaccinated. All the staff engaged in operation must also be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The order also mentioned that gyms will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity subject to use of masks while performing any activity. “Only fully vaccinated persons shall be allowed to use these services. All the staff engaged in operation shall be fully vaccinated,” it added.

The Maharashtra government has, however, kept the decision unchanged for keeping sports complexes, swimming pools, spas and wellness centres close.

The state government has imposed a night curfew between 11 pm to 5 am from January 10 across Maharashtra to restrict the spread of COVID-19. Only 50 people will be allowed at marriages and social, religious, cultural or political gatherings, while mere 20 people will be permitted at funerals.

Shopping malls, market complexes have been allowed with 50 per cent capacity and will be closed between 10 pm and 8 am. Meanwhile, night and morning have been banned in cinema halls. They will just be allowed to operate with 50 per cent

Schools and colleges in the state will remain closed till February 15.

Government and private offices have been ordered to opt for work from home and working hours should be staggered for those who will be going to office.
