NEET-PG counselling will start before January 6, 2022, assures health minister

: The government has assured to start the counseling process before January 6 said Indian Medical Association (IMA). The decision was taken hours after the resident doctors called off their 14-day nationwide protest over the delay of NEET-PG counseling.

“Health Minister has assured us that the NEET-PG counseling will start before 6th Jan’2022. There will be no FIRs on the doctors. There is no need to panic for the new variant of Covid, but all precautions should be taken: Sahajanand Prasad Singh, IMA President,” said ANI.

Doctors called off their 14-day long nationwide strike over NEET-PG counseling after police agreed to withdraw FIRs.

“A delegation led by National President, IMA, Dr Sahajanand Prasad alongwith other Office Bearers met with Hon’ble Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Shri Mansukh Mandaviya on 30th December, 2021 to resolve the issue of delayed admission into the PG Medical Courses,” reads the press release.

FORDA president Dr. Manish said, “We had a meeting with Joint CP last night. Withdrawal 

of FIR process started (in connection with ITO protest). After 12 pm today we’ll call off our strike against the delay in NEET 2021 counseling.”

On December 27, the resident doctors marched towards the Supreme Court when they were stopped near ITO in Delhi. Later, in an encounter with police, several medical practitioners were detained. Police also claimed that seven of its personnel were injured in the incident.

Doctors’ delegation had then demanded a written apology for police brutality including withdrawing the FIRs filed against the doctors during an encounter with police.
