Gayathri Khemadasa, daughter of Premasiri Khemadasa, last week expressed regret that Sri Lanka's High Commissioner, Rohitha Bogollagama, despite an earlier acceptance, did not attend a church choral event at St. Mary's Cathedral in Portsmouth where she played a role in the musical arrangements.

The Havant Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of George Burrows, a music professor at the University of Portsmouth, featured Khemadasa's composition for "Song for Eve" originally written in German by Haydn and translated into English by Scottish poet Anne Hunter.

Accompanied by her husband, Darren Large, Khemadasa won warm applause at this event attended by Portsmouth Mayor Tom Coles. She regretted the high commissioner's absence as this was not only an hoour for her personally but for the country and called the absence a "missed opportunity."

She said she was privileged to play a role in the musical event featuring Haydn's music and Scottish poet Anne Hunter's work.
