Prison officers fall sick demanding increased emoluments

<p>The All-Ceylon Prison Officers' Union yesterday commenced a two-day sick leave campaign in protest against the government's failure to meet their demands, including a pay hike.</p>
<p>The sick note campaign would continue until Wednesday (22), Prison Union sources said.</p>
<p>Officers of the Prisons Department, across the country, joined the trade union action.</p>
<p>The main demand of prison officers is an immediate increase of their salaries by Rs. 25,000 each or a 40 percent increase in allowances.</p>
<p>The All-Ceylon Prison Officers' Union says that salary increments have not been provided since 2014.</p>
