Total 330 engineer vacancies exist

<p><img src="" alt="Featured Image"></p><p><!-- wp:html --><p>About 130 engineers have recently resigned from their posts at the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Parliamentary corruption watchdog the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) revealed.</p>
<p>The CEB was summoned before the COPE on Tuesday (14). </p>
<p>Responding to a query from MP Madhura Withanage during the meeting, Palitha Perera, Deputy Managing Director of CEB said there were 330 vacancies for engineers.</p>
<p>"Over the past year and within the first four months of this year, 130 engineers have resigned. We currently face a shortage of 330 engineers due to our failure to recruit replacements for those who have retired," he explained.</p>
<p>Moreover, COPE Chairman Rohitha Abeygunawardena said there are 529 executive level vacancies at the CEB. </p>
