<p><img src="" alt="Featured Image"></p><p><!-- wp:html --><p>The Landslide Early Warning Centre of the National Building Research Organization <strong>(NBRO)</strong> has issued landslide early warnings to the districts of Colombo, Galle, Hambanthota, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Matara, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura from 16:00 hrs on 02.06.2024 to 16:00 hrs on 03.06.2024</p>
<p><em>Accordingly,</em></p>
<p><strong>Level I </strong>Landslide '<span>RED ALERT</span>'s have been issued to the Divisional Secretaries divisions and surrounding areas of Padukka in the Colombo district, Palindanuwara, Mathugama, Bulathsinhala and Ingiriya in the Kalutara district, Ruwanwella, Dehiowita, Deraniyagala, Warakapola and Yatiyanthota in the Kegalle district and Ratnapura, Ayagama, Pelmadulla, Kuruwita, Elapatha, Nivithigala, Kalawana, Kiriella and Eheliyagoda in the Ratnapura district.</p>
<p><strong>Level II</strong> landslide early warnings have been issued to the Divisional Secretaries divisions and surrounding areas of Seethawaka in the Colombo district, Yakkalamulla, Thawalama, Nagoda, Neluwa, Elpitiya and Niyagama in the Galle district, Walasmulla in the Hambanthota district, Walallawita, Agalawatta, Dodangoda and Horana in the Kalutara district, Udapalatha in the Kandy district, Kotapola, Mulatiyana and Pitabeddara in the Matara district, Kothmale and Ambagamuwa in the Nuwara Eliya district and Imbulpe, Balangoda and Openayake in the Ratnapura district.</p>
<p><strong>Level I </strong>landslide early warnings have been issued to the Divisional Secretaries divisions and surrounding areas of Okewela and Katuwana in the Hambanthota district, Beruwala, Madurawala and Kaluthara in the Kalutara district, Pasbage Korale, Ganga Ihala Korale, Yatinuwara, Gangawata Korale and Udunuwara in the Kandy district, Rambukkana, Bulathkohupitiya, Mawanella, Galigamuwa, Kegalle and Aranayaka in the Kegalle district, Alawwa and Narammala in the Kurunegala district, Hakmana, Devinuwara, Kamburupitiya, Welipitiya, Dickwella, Matara Four Gravets, Athuraliya, Thihagoda, Weligama, Matara, Malimbada, Akuressa, Pasgoda and Kirinda Puhulwella in the Matara district, Nuwara Eliya in the Nuwara Eliya district and Weligepola, Godakawela, Kahawatta and Kolonna in the Ratnapura district.</p>
<p><strong>Special Note:</strong><br />
<strong>During the Landslide Early Warning period, pay attention to the following pre-landslide signs</strong><br />
<strong>* Development of cracks on the ground, deepened cracks and ground subsidence</strong><br />
<strong>* Slanting of trees, electrical posts, fences and telephone posts</strong><br />
<strong>* Cracks in the floors and walls of buildings which are built on slopes</strong><br />
<strong>* Sudden appearances of springs, emerging muddy water, blockage or disappearance of existing springs</strong></p>
<p><strong>People should move away immediately from the areas where they notice the above pre-landslide signs</strong></p>
<p><strong>People living in landslide susceptible areas should be extra vigilant and be ready to move away quickly to a safe place if heavy rain continues.</strong></p>
