Travel ban on PTL Chief lifted, temporarily

<p><img src="" alt="Featured Image"></p><p><!-- wp:html --><p>The Colombo High Court yesterday (13) temporarily lifted the overseas travel ban imposed on the Chairman of Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) Geoffrey Aloysius.The travel ban was imposed consequent to the disclosure of the PTL's involvement in Treasury bond scams in 2015 and 2016.</p>
<p>This order was issued when the relevant case was taken up before a three- judge bench consisting of Justices Amal Perera, Namal Balalle and Adithya Patabendige.Geoffrey Aloysius, the sixth defendant in the Central Bank bond scam case, was allowed to travel overseas to obtain medical treatment in</p>
<p>Malaysia. The travel ban suspension is effective from 01 June to 12 Sept. 2024.The Colombo HC directive has been communicated to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration.</p>
<p>The Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, acting in terms of the Regulations made under the Registered Stock and Securities Ordinance and the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance, has continuously extended the suspension of the PTL from carrying on business and activities of a Primary Dealer in order to continue the investigations being conducted by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.</p><!-- /wp:html --></p><p>[Category: <a href="https://feed.lankaimage.com/category/uncategorized/" rel="category tag">Uncategorized</a>]</p><p><strong>Tags:</strong> </p>
