The proposal by Women and Child Affairs Minister Chandrani Bandara to appoint committees of senior officials in each ministry to eliminate gender-based harassment at all workplaces was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
Sri Lanka is bound to take action to eliminate discrimination and harassment against women in the workplaces, according to international conventions it has entered into.
