The assistant of a lorry laden with a concrete mixer crushed under the lorry which fell into a paddy field along the Weerasuriyakanda Dematadenikanda road in Mirigama on Wednesday, succumbed to his injuries on admission to Wathupitiwala hospital, a spokesman for Nittambuwa Police said.
He was identified as W. G. Krishantha Bandara of Kumbukwewa, Ibbagamuwa.
The spokesman said investigations revealed that the lorry had fallen into the paddy field when the land underneath subsided as the driver tried to park it on the road side.
The driver had escaped unhurt. The post mortem was due to be held at Wathupitiwala hospital.
