Major General H.C.P Goonetilleke has been appointed the new Chief of Staff of the Army, said Military Spokesman Brigadier Roshan Seneviratne
Major General Goonetilleke succeeds Major General U. A. B Medawela.
Major General Goonetilleke has been decorated with the Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) and awarded the Vishishta Seva Vibushanaya.He holds a Master’s Degree in Defence and Strategic Studies from the National Defence University Pakistan.
Major General Goonetilleke has been serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff.
Major General Renaka Udawatte has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff, Military Spokesman Roshan Seneviratne said.
