Warrant on Kirgizstan national over fake electronic card

 

An arrest warrant was issued on Kirgizstan national Sakharov Dimitri by Fort Magistrate and additional District judge Lanka Jayaratne.

The Kirgizstan national allegedly cheated a private bank of Rs 19 million by using a foreign fake electronic card.

The Magistrate ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the authenticity of the Visa Card used for the crime.

The Court has been informed by the CID about the recorded voice tape of the telephone conversation of the main suspect with a private bank in Sri Lanka.

Two other suspects from Kandy were produced in the Magistrate Courts yesterday.

The suspects used a bank card issued by a foreign bank to purchase gems worth US$ 134,000 from a merchant in Kollupitiya.

The CID informed Court, that the suspects used the same Visa Card to by jewellery and gems worth Rs 925,000/- from Chetty Street in Pettah and bought gems worth over US$ 130,000.
