The construction work of the Maternal and Children’s Hospital at Kalutara at a cost of Rs. 26 billion will commence early next year, Health Ministry sources said.
According to the sources, this is the second child and maternal hospital in Sri Lanka, and it will be constructed at Galassa in the Kalutara district.
The Netherlands will fund the project.
The hospital once completed will serve a large number of women and children.
Health Minister Dr. Rajaitha Senaratne inspected the plan during a recent visit he made to the Netherlands ambassador’s official residence.
