All Ceylon Thowheed branch withdraws mosque case

The Hadirawala (Wellawaya) branch of the All Ceylon Thowheed Jama’ath, Kurunegala, has agreed to withdraw a lawsuit it had filed in the Kurunegala District Court against the main mosque of Hadirawala, namely, Jamal Akbar Jummah Masjid mosque of Hadirawala, Wellawaya.

The Plaintiffs, the ACTJ, had filed an action against the Defendants seeking a declaration in the District Court of Kurunegala restraining the Defendants from doing any mischief during their hours of worship and specifically to the Jummah prayers conducted by the Plaintiffs.

The All Ceylon Thowheed Jamaath Kurunegala, Hadirawala branch, filed action through its office-bearers O.L.M Rishad (President), S.M. Ayoob Khan (Vice President), S.A.C.M. Jawahirdeen (Vice President), S. Ahamed Meera Shaibu (Secretary), Moulavi J.M. Imran (Assistant Secretary), A.L. Fahim (Treasurer) and 11 other members.

The plaintiffs prayed for a relief from Court seeking a declaration that the All Ceylon Thowheed Jama’ath organization is entitled to freely and peacefully engage in their religious activities as prayed for in their Plaint. The matter was taken up for inquiry regarding the interim injunction restraining the Defendants from doing any mischievous activity.

The Defendants were represented by Senior Counsel Ian J.F. Fernando, Mrs. Aparajitha Ariyadasa and counsel Chathura Nuwan Herath instructed by Indunil Seneviratne. The Plaintiffs were represented by Samadhee Seneviratne instructed by Attorney-at-Law Kamal Nissanka.
