Persons who conduct tuition classes, lectures, seminars, workshops or any form of educational aid related to the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, must conclude them by midnight on Wednesday November 27.
Examinations Commissioner General Sanath Poojitha said the Examinations Department has instructed that all tuition classes, lectures and workshops or in such form related to the G.C.E. O/L examination must conclude before midnight on November 27.
Attanayake stated this in response to a previous media pronouncement by the United National Party General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam on November 20.
Attanayake, a former UNP General Secretary himself, had issued a press release in order “to reveal the truth to the public with regard to the election campaign and the operational activities”. “The finger has been pointed towards the Vauxhall Street election operation office to deliberately hide the truth from the public and supporters,” he added.
The media release said a main operational committee comprising the UNP Leader and the General Secretary had been appointed to run the election.
But, even the district managers of the party had been convened and instructed on the programme only after a request made by Attanayake.
“Therefore, issuing press releases in such an irresponsible manner at this moment is not suitable to the position of the General Secretary,” Attanayaka said and quoted the saying “Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan”.
