A man had been shot dead unintentionally by a friend of him yesterday in the Alugolla Forest Reserve in Palagala.
The victim was identified as R. Seneviratne (52) of Palagala, Pothuhera police said.
He had gone hunting porcupines along with three friends and one of them shot at a porcupine which missed the target and hit the victim, police said.
The body is kept at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for the postmortem.
Pothuhera Police are investigating.
