Deputy General Manager (Marketing) of Independent Television Network (ITN) Upali Ranjith, who was prematurely retired by the Yahapalana Government on allegations of biased telecasting of election ads in favour of Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Election in 2015, has been reinstated in service in keeping with agreement reached at Labhour Tribunal, which inquired into the complaint he filed.
Upali Ranjith is due to assume duties again as ITN Deputy General Manager today.
During his Previous tenure of 36th years in the ITN, he served as DGM (Marketing) for 10 years making the ITN the Market Leader In the Media Marketing.
Considered as a pioneer in ITN, the First TV Channel in Sri Lanka, he had his capacity building and skill development in many European countries in addition to Malaysia and Japan.
Being a Media Marketing Veteran he holds Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (PGDip) awarded by Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) and Practicing Marketer status conferred by SLIM.
In recognition of his successful career in Marketing, he has been granted membership of Asia Marketing Federation.
Upali Ranjith has offered his services to SLIM as a Ex-committee member in 2017/2018, 20218/2019 and 2019/2020 and as panelist in the jury for SLIM-NASCO awards.
