Six boys held over teen’s murder

Six boys who were arrested over the death of a 17-year-old in Grandpass have been remanded until Friday.

The order was issued by the Colombo Additional Magistrate Kanchana Neranjana De Silva. The teenager was stabbed over an argument over a Tik-Tok video and died upon admission to hospital on Monday.The suspects arrested over the murder were produced before court by the Grandpass Police yesterday.

The Magistrate ordered the group to be detained at the Youth Detention Centre in Makola until the next court hearing.The boys who were arrested yesterday are scheduled to be produced before an identification parade on Friday.The deceased has been identified as Abdul Latheef of Wellampitiya.The victim was on his way to the Randiya Uyana apartment complex with two other friends when the argument had erupted with another known group who had been following them.

It is alleged that Latheef was stabbed in the abdomen during the argument.
