The Transport Ministry said a bus innovation programme will be launched next year, Director General Planning of the Transport and Highways Ministry C.Hettiarachchi said. He said this will be implemented to address issues such as the unnecessary competition between public transport buses, non-observance of traffic rules, drivers and assistants harassing the passengers and the public transport service continuously decreasing in passenger attraction.
He said authorities are ready to pay by setting a fixed price per kilometre. He said this while joining a press conference held regarding the 2023 budget proposals.
